It is considered a very important fish for huchen’s life cycle, because after hatching the huchens feed on small specimens of the common nase. Before spawning the common nase migrates upstream where they often encounter obstacles in the form of dams built on rivers, which reduces their number. Common nase is extremely susceptible to pollution.
